Kentucky’s Favorite Hot Brown
After posting the recipe yesterday for Poutine, those french fries smothered in brown gravy with melted cheese curds, I got to thinking about different foods I've tried when on vacation.
The brown gravy of Poutine reminded me of the gravy and cheese covered Hot Brown I tried in Lexington, KY.
Ever heard of it? It's a Kentucky favorite, invented by the chef of the Brown Hotel in Louisville. It's an open face sandwich that has layers of turkey, gravy, bacon, and tomatoes with cheese.
It took 3 of us, my 2 friends and I, to polish it off but was it ever tasty.
Since I won't be in Kentucky anytime soon, I found a recipe for Hot Brown through allrecipes.com
Hmmm, I think I need to go grocery shopping, plus do another day of two at the gym.
