Wayne and Deby Kyle, parents of famed Navy SEAL Chris Kyle which the movie American Sniper is based on, were on hand at the CMA Music Fest in Nashville on Saturday for a very important reason: to present Kellie Picker with the first-ever Operation Troop Aid Chris Kyle Patriot Award.

Just like their son, the Kyles hate fame, but were on hand in Nashville to meet and thank country stars who support the military; continuing their late son's mission of bringing awareness to our troops.

When Operation Troop Aid contacted the Kyles and told them the non-profit organization wanted to re-name their annual award in honor of their son, the couple agreed to make a rare public appearance to present the inaugural award to Kellie Pickler. After receiving the Operation Troop Aid Chris Kyle Patriot Award Kellie said, "I am rarely at a loss for words but I am tonight. I am so blessed to have done the USO tours, and so honored to receive this award tonight."
