It goes without saying, you should never do this, but people probably will this weekend. It could cost them more than a speeding ticket if they're caught.

The Illinois State Police is letting everyone know they, along with local police, will be out in increased numbers over the entire Labor Day weekend, which is commonly filled with cookouts and booze. The goal is to keep the roads safer over the long weekend after an astonishing 23 driving related deaths occurred over last year's holiday weekend.

Illinois State Police have made it no secret that they will have plenty of safety checks and will be looking for impaired drivers. They're advising to designate a sober driver ahead of time and encouraging other drivers to report impaired drivers to 911.

It's a safe bet to assume you'll run into a sobriety checkpoint this weekend so be smart. Also, don't forget to buckle up.
