Well the trickle down factor of our never ending state budget crisis is now effecting our state fairs.

They fairs need our help in order to be around this summer.

WREX reports that due to the budget crisis the state of Illinois has cut several things including funding to our county fairs.

Winnebago County says the state cut more than $60,000 of funding. The promise of having a fair this year is very slim according to Winnebago County Fair's Lifetime Board Director, Jim anderson.

Ogle County Fair is asking for the public's help to "fund their 4-H Club premium fund. Harlan Holm, the President of the Ogle County Fair Association, says the fund will go to paying young farmers their prize money." They need to raise $27,000 in order to pay it's prize winners.

Last year a study was done and it showed that county fairs grossed over $170 million. That's what our county fairs bring to Illinois and now our government can't give them anything in return this year.

Now this just makes me sad and mad. Due to this fight over the budget little by little our state is losing some of the best things about it. Just makes me so angry over this political power struggle. It's just not fair. The citizens of this state are the ones who are suffering under this never ending power struggle.

If you'd like to help support your county fair or others that you enjoy going to every year please click the links below to see how you can help them out.
