If your family is in need of assistance this Christmas from the Salvation Army for food and toys, you need to get registered by 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. (Tonight!) Here's how you do it...

Registration for Winnebago County residents is taking place at the Salvation Army's Social Service Center located at 416 S Madison Street in Rockford today (Wednesday) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To register your family you need to bring:

  • Photo ID for head of household
  • Proof of address for every member of the household, including children. Examples of what to bring as proof would be; current medical cards, recent mail, school records, etc.
  • Proof of birthdate for every child in household aged 15 and younger

For more information on the registration process contact the Salvation Army at 815-972-1135 or go here.

If you are not in need of Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army, and you would like to help others who are as a way of paying your good fortune forward, please pick up an extra toy of 2 for a needy boy or girl in the Stateline when out shopping the next few weeks. Any toy good for an infant all the way up to a pre-teen would be greatly appreciated, and we would love to have you drop it off, unwrapped, at the Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall by the Cherryvale Mall on Friday December 4 for the annual 12 Hours of Salvation Army Toy Drive. All toys donated will then be distributed by the Salvation Army to families who have registered with them for assistance.

We hope to see you all soon!
