During the month of July a food drive is taking place to help feed the senior citizens in and around Freeport.

In this WTVO news report, the Feed Seniors Now is a non-perishable food drive, sponsored by Comfort Keepers, to help senior citizens in need by filling their pantries with nutritious foods.

All are welcome and encouraged to drop off food at these Freeport locations: Sullivan's, Bocker Auto Group, Senior Resource Center, Provena St. Joseph, Cub Foods and Culver's. All food will be donated to seniors in need throughout Freeport.

Foods that are especially helpful include: peanut butter, low-sodium canned vegetables or fruit, soups, Ensure nutrition shakes and protein bars, canned tuna, chicken, mackerel or beef. They're asking for no glass jars or junk food.

For more information please contact the Freeport Comfort Keepers office at (815) 235-4200.
