Have you Seen the Ghost Bikes?

This morning on my way into work I saw a white bike chained to the fence at the corner of Mulford and Guilford roads by Lindstrom Travel. I dismissed it as maybe someone lost their bike.

Have you seen the Ghost Bikes?

According to Georgette Braun from the Rockford Register Star, this is part of the Ghost Bike Project.

This project is actually two fold.

The first is to bring awareness for motorists and bicyclists for bicycle awareness.

The second is for artist Carlos Rolon. He will be presenting his 10-foot bicycle at the Rockford Art Museum on Oct. 1.

His "Ghost Bike Project " is a way to ask the public to be careful and aware of bicyclists. He also would like those that lost loved ones to post handwritten not near the sculptures to remember them by.
