On Saturday the owner of Grubsteakers, which was destroyed in the April 9th tornado, was proud to be able to serve her customers again with the help of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood.

Over 10 thousand dollars was raised by local residents and restaurant regulars stopping in for another of Ava Mirtoska fabulous cooked meals.

According to WTVO, Ms. Mirtoska is expecting to start rebuilding her restaurant on the same grounds as previously, the corner of Route 64 and Highway 251, toward the end of June.

It's awesome to see the community pull together to help this local gem in Kings, IL. WREX news reported, the owner has run into a few issues from the insurance company. They will grant rebuilding of the restaurant building but will not cover the costs of furnishing or equipment. The reason for the fundraiser this past weekend.

It's great to see that Ms.Mirtoska isn't letting that stop her. It would be a shame to loose this place. It may not have looked like much from the outside but it does have tasty down home cooking, especially their homemade pies. Yummy.

If interested in supporting Grubsteakers they have a Go Fund Me account set up. Click here for more details.
