It's not early to start learning track and field. That's why this program in Rockford is  encouraging parents to get their tots, between the ages three and five, into track.

The Rockford Junior fire meets every Monday and Wednesday now through July 25th. If you'd like to get your kids involved they meet at 6:00 p.m. at Guilford High School on  Monday and Wednesday. Here your kids will learn the basics skills like throwing a softball, broad jump and 50-meter dash.

Coach Kevin Anderson told WREX news that "It helps them out as far as understanding what track and field is all about. It helps them with their ability and how to run, what they need to do to jump and so forth. Getting their coordination together."

I think it's a great way to help you kids burn off energy and in a fun way, while getting to interact with other children and learn the health benefits of how running and exercise is good for you and it isn't boring.
