There is something to do educational on Martin Luther King Jr. Day thanks to three of Chicago's most popular cultural institutions which are offering free admission to Illinois residents. Here are the details.

Tired of hearing "there's nothing to do today?".

According to The Associated Press, "The Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium said residents also will be able to buy discounted passes for additional exhibits and features on Jan. 18"

The only requirement is that all visitors must show proof of residency to take advantage of the offers. There will be special extended hours for the day at The Shedd Aquarium, which will now be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for MLK Day.

All three of the institutions are located along Lake Michigan on what's known as Chicago's museum campus, so it should be easy to make a day of it,

Can't make it on MLK Day? Here are the other dates in the year when you can take advantage of Free Admission Days at Chicagoland Museums.

Have a great time enjoying quality time with your family.
