Free Haircuts For School

Need a hair cut before school starts? Budget stretched to the limit? There's a hair salon in Northern Boone County that wants to help.

According to the Rockford Register Star, five stylists at Salon La “T” Da, 100 E. Grove St., will offer free haircuts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for their neighbors in need. 

The idea came to stylist Gwen Shaddick, who serves as secretary at Capron Lutheran Church. She works with many families from northern Boone County that seek assistance from the church’s clothing giveaway. She wanted to do more

After helping to cut hair at church for kids in new school outfits, she decided to solicit the help of her salon to help struggling families make ends meet.

The event is set for this Sunday August 9, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the salon.
