Footage Of DDT Being Sprayed Over Rockford

It is always interesting to see the past of Rockford, especially when it was captured in black and white. 

The folks at Critical Past.com have collected over 57,000 different clips that pertain to the government and past wars. I was able to find one that pertained to Rockford.

Back in 1945, there was an outbreak of Polio. The thought was that insects were carriers of the disease and that the way to combat that was to spray DDT over the city. Here is a clip that you can also find at the Critical Past You Tube page.
