Fans Start Petition to Bring ‘McDreamy’ Back to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

I loved Derek Shepherd too, but I think perhaps it is time to cue the music and "Let It Go."

Don't get me wrong, I would be overjoyed if we found out in this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy that McDreamy dying was just a bad dream. I do, however, recognize a lost cause when I see it, and I think a petition to bring Derek Shepherd back to Grey's Anatomy may just be one of them.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Patrick Dempsey had this to say about Dr. Shepherd's departure, and how the fans would react to it...

 I think any time an original cast member has left, there’s always a void that will never be filled. Shepherd is a beloved character. People don’t want to lose him. He’s been in their lives for over 10 years. But it goes on, and it will evolve.

To me, reading that is like the equivalent of a fat lady singing. It's all over, folks.

Last I checked, over 15,000 people disagree with my pessimism and have signed the petition already. I do hope they prove me wrong.
