More than 200 people showed up at the Kirkland Fire Department, for the Fairdale holiday party hosted by the DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Committee. What a day it was.

Fairdale families gathered this weekend and enjoyed food, games, music, and even got to sit on Santa's lap. Organizers say, today's event, is a way for families to overcome April's deadly twisters.

According to WIFR TV-23, Jessica Fruit with the DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Committee said, "I think this is also going to be a time for them to be thankful for their friends and family, and for the way that their town of Fairdale was, and for the way that their town is going to be. A lot of them don't see each other day to day so this is a great chance for them to get together again and to kind of rejoice in the season".

Families of Fairdale took the time to count blessings, thank families for sticking together, and to thank the Stateline area for support throughout the year.
