Eat and Help Out the Literacy Council today!

Here I was earlier this afternoon enjoying a delicious Jersey Mike's famous Philly sub.

Today is Jersey Mike's day of giving. 100% of today's proceeds from Jersey Mike's Subs on East State Street in Rockford or on Highway 173 in Machesney Park will benefit the Literacy Council.  Come out, grab a bite to eat, and let's help out the Literacy Council. Both locations of Jersey Mike's subs are open until 9 PM tonight.

Did you know that there are over 44,000 people in the Rockford Literacy Council three county service area without a High School diploma or GED. Without that achievement, there are a low number of jobs available for them, and none of those jobs pay enough to sustain day to day living. It means an elevated crime rate, children starting school with low literacy skills, and more taxes going to support public assistance programs.

Also don't forget the 25th annual 100 Who Cook and Brew May 17 at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford. More than 100 volunteer cooks from Rockford businesses will serve their creations to help raise money for The Literacy Council. Get all the details here!
