Next time you need to take a cruise, you might want to leave Fido at home.

Why Fido? I prefer more human names for my pets like Tim and/or Kevin. Sounds more fun that way.

Anyway, a small Ohio village is introducing legislation in a few weeks that will allow a cop to pull you over and fine you for driving "distracted."

Yes, having a dog on your lap in the village of Mantua, the small Ohio town, qualifies as distracted driving and could end up yielding a pretty big fine.

CBS 2 in Chicago says "A first offense is a minor misdemeanor. A second offense within one year or any offense that causes a traffic accident would be a misdemeanor of the third degree."

It seems to be the first city of it's kind to start writing tickets for folks driving with dogs on their laps.

For giggles, I decided to see what was going on with the Land of Lincoln and the "dog driving on a lap hot-button issue."

It was introduced in February of 2013, and in April it was referred to a rules committee.

As of December 3, 2014, it looks like the legislation was "sine die" meaning they adjourned without setting a date for another session to chat about the proposed law.

That was nearly four years ago. I have a feeling it's not coming back.
