Brown, who lives in Sycamore, was charged by police with theft of property valued at more than $500.

So how did this occur? Police say that on Sunday evening, Brown was sitting in her vehicle as the young girl played with her dog in the front yard of her house. The dog was a Yorkshire terrier mix. After about five minutes, Brown left her car and approached the child. She grabbed the dog out of the child's arms and drove away.

The girl's mother told the Daily Chronicle the incident scared her child "to death."

Brown was eventually arrested in the early morning hours of Monday morning at her home in Sycamore

The good news is that the dog was returned to the little girl and her family.. Brown will appear in court on December 15, to answer to the charges.
