Here's a feel-good story out of Dekalb involving a city official and a choking woman - a truly life-saving moment.

Andy Raih is the interim streets superintendent in Dekalb and was given special recognition for saving a woman's life at a retirement party earlier this year. According to Daily Chronicle, it all went down when Raih noticed a woman appeared to be choking. When she showed sign of choking he didn't hesitate to help her.

Raih performed the Heimlich Maneuver, with abdominal thrusts on the victim until the object was dislodged from her airway. Afterward, Raih said the victim did not request any emergency services and just wanted to move past it.

Thankfully prior CPR-related training Raih received from Dekalb's Fire Department was able to be used to save the woman's life. Along with the heroic actions came a certificate of commendation, according to DC, which was signed and presented by Dekalb's mayor and public works director.
