After the deadly July 7th shooting of five Dallas police officers, funeral services were held and the Stateline was represented by local law enforcement who were in attendance.

According to the Belvidere Police Department, on Friday, July 8, 2016 Belvidere Mayor Chamberlain, at the request of the alderman, approved funds to send two Belvidere Police Officers to Dallas, Texas to attend the funerals and visitations of the fallen officers who were murdered by a sniper on July 7, 2016.

Belvidere police officers Jones and Kozlowski to travelled to Dallas to represent the citizens of Belvidere and the Belvidere PD and pay their respects. Upon arriving in Dallas the two officers were joined by Boone County Sheriff Sergeant Smyth who also attended the Wednesday's funeral services.

Belvidere Police Chief Noble issued the following statement:

The Belvidere Police Department strives to provide service that is built on a foundation of community trust and professionalism. Chief Noble wants to thank all of the members of the community for their support and well wish.

Hundreds of mourners were on hand at the services that were held earlier today for three of the officers that died.

Thanks to all the officers for representing the Stateline.
