Who in their right mind would do this to an animal? “There is no reason for cruelty against animals or humans"

Those words from the Charleston Animal society in reference to Caitlyn.

Caitlyn is a 15-month-old pit bull that was found in North Charleston, South Carolina last Wednesday morning with her mouth taped shut.

Joe Elmore, CEO Charleston Animal Society, says:

There is no reason for cruelty against animals or humans, especially of this intentional and heinous manner. Someone had to take the time to find or buy electrical tape, then take more time in finding this innocent, adorable dog to bound its snout with its tongue between its teeth. These are the same type of criminals who murder and rape women, children and other defenseless living creatures. We will pull out all the stops to save Caitlyn’s life and to find the culprit(s) who did this to her!

The Huffington Post reports that the tape, which may have been there for as long as two days before Caitlyn was discovered, was so tight that it cut off circulation to the dog's tongue. It wasn't clear at first whether she would live.

The shelter says that she is still really swollen, but she's walking and she was eating small portions of food.
