A group of high school students from Chicago have created an app called "Save Our City" that alerts users to dangerous areas in the city and how to get around them. The app is still in the development stage, but I can't  help but wonder if technology such as this could help the city of Rockford as well?

Sure, Rockford citizens know the shady areas of this city to avoid, but with crime spreading into more "safe" neighborhoods and areas of this region, I'm thinking we could use all the help we can get.

If you would like to see the development of the "Save Our City" app continue for use nationwide, you need to vote for it to win Best in the Nation in Verizon's App Challenge contest. Just text SOC to 22333 now to place your vote.
