Piper Gilles, 26, lived in Rockford until the 2000's. Then, to begin her training, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado with her family.

According to WREX, "After a successful career in the United States, Piper eventually teamed up with ice dance partner Paul Poirier, who she is competing with at the Olympic Winter Games in South Korea."

She's not the only one who's good with skates strapped to her feet. Her twin sister Alexe is a performer with Disney on Ice. Alexe was actually supposed to be here in Rockford this week with Disney on Ice but decided to travel to South Korea to support her sister.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't annoyed by this a little. She was born in the USA and did much of her training growing up here in the states. Why is she competing for Canada then? It kinda feels like she turned her back on her country but I don't know all the details. I'd hate to assume something and look like an idiot so I'll stick with slightly annoyed.
