Lauren Hill battled, even as she suffered from cancer, and touched the world as an inspiration. She passed away Friday at the young age of 19.

Hill had a desire to play basketball for Mount St. Joseph's women's while she battled an inoperable brain tumor. Her resolve and spirit was an inspiration for all of us.

You will recall she accomplished her dream on November 2nd as she played center for  Xavier University. Hill scored the first and last basket of the Mount's 66-55 victory over Hiram College in front of a wold wide television audience and sold-out crowd of 10,250.

In the game, Hill scored the first and last basket of the Mount's St Joseph's 66-55 victory over Hiram College.

USA Today reports that Mount St. Joseph's will hold a celebration and prayer service on its campus to honor her.

Mount St. Joe president Tony Aretz told USA Today

We are forever grateful to have had Lauren grace our campus with her smile and determined spirit
