Most of us are guilty of hitting the breaks or swerving to avoid an animal in the road, and it's really dangerous. There's no proof this is the case for an accident that happened early Friday morning on Rockford's west side but an animal may be the blame.

According to WREX, a rollover accident at Kilburn and N. Meridian may have been caused by an animal in the road resulting in an extrication.

Officials say the driver of the Toyota Camry swerved into the opposite lane to "avoid an animal", which then caused the pickup to swerve as well. The two collided, causing the pickup to roll off of the road.

No updates about the injured driver's condition.
