It's your chance to be heard on the Amtrak issue.

For years we have heard about the proposal to have a train that goes from Rockford to Chicago with stops in Elgin, Huntley, and Belvidere.

You might recall last year former Governor Pat Quinn was in Rockford and announced a $223 million dollar project to bring back art Amtrak service to our area. That was then. Now, Governor Bruce Rauner has announced that he has put that the plan is on hold, as the state of Illinois is considering major budget cuts.

Mystateline.com reports that State Senator Steve Stadelman says:

A lot of the capital projects are different pots of money. We are talking about capital improvements. You get the money through bonding projects. So, what the governor is dealing right now is with the general revenue fund, the operational side of government. A lot of major transportation projects are bonded out

.
Now, it's your chance to weigh in on the issue
