The Pumpkin Patch: it's a place I love so much, that I spend many weekends there in the fall and chances are that you and your family have, too.

The Pumpkin Patch in Caledonia is favorite Stateline fall destination for 32 years and been owned and operated for the past 14 years by Jean and Mark Coon. The Coon family has announced that after putting their hearts and time into this family friendly business that they have decided to sell.

The Pumpkin Patch employs 73 people, many are teenagers from local high schools and for many it is their first job.

The Pumpkin Patch is located on Rt 173 and operates from Mid-September - October 31st. Mark and Jean Coon plan to continue as owners throughout the remainder of October.

The Pumpkin Patch features:

  • A barnyard petting Zoo
  • Tons of great food including their famous Apple Cider and pumpkin spice donuts
  • Live educational Animal Shows on the weekends
  • Old fashioned wagon rides
  • Front yard playground with LIVE kid-friendly DJ on the weekends
  • Inflatables
  • Six Acre Corn maze
  • Pumpkins Galore

Jean and Mark Coon hope that the future owner will continue the family tradition. The Coon family has set up a website for those interested in purchasing the Pumpkin patch.

On a personal note: I have been providing DJ music on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays, weather permitting) at the Pumpkin patch along with Rockford radio personality Chuck Doyle for the last six years and can tell you that the entire staff at the Pumpkin Patch enjoy every minute at work and take great pride in seeing smiles on the faces of all the guests. It is truly a family atmosphere. Jean and Mark Coon will be missed and I wish them well.
