A disturbing trend is taking place in Rockford and no one knows why it is happening.

WTVO-TV is reporting that a second vehicle has been left on train tracks in the Rockford area and a freight train has crashed into it.

Around 2 AM a train was making it way to the corner of Perryville and Linden road when it smashed into a vacant SUV. No one was in the vehicle at the time thank goodness.

This is not the first time that something like this happened. Just a little under two weeks ago, a train collided into an unoccupied pick up truck in Cherry Valley. No one was hurt in the accident.

Police have the license plate number for the second vehicle and they are going to investigate the owner of the vehicle. If you are going to leave a vehicle on train tracks, why would you leave the license plate on it?

Another question to ask is what reason you want to leave a vehicle on train tracks to see it destroyed. That does not sound like a fun prank to play. I feel for the train operators who have to deal with this. Their safety is in jeopardy when you pull a stunt like that.

If anyone has any information about these incidents, please contact the authorities or the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department.
