A new program in Rockford is lighting the way to prevent crime.

The Lights and Locks program was introduced by the United Way of the Rock River Valley to help residents in Rockford neighbors feel safer and reduce crime by adding more lights to their property, sidewalks and alleys.

For those who sign up with Lights and Lock will receive motion sensored lights and new locks for their doors. Residents will pay a small fee for the installation from the contractors and electricians through Project First Rate and Nicholson Hardware is providing the supplies.

The project upgrades of lights and locks will be installed by the end of this sumer.
