8 Dive Bars to Take Dad for Father’s Day
For Mother’s Day, I put together a list of the 9 Best Places to Get Your Mom Drunk for Mother’s Day, so I only thought it would be appropriate to put together a similar list for dad.
Let’s be honest, your dad probably isn’t the brunch kind of guy; if you ask my boyfriend, he’ll tell you that brunch isn’t even a real thing- it’s just something that women made up as an excuse to drink mimosas in the middle of the day- which is why you’re going to either bring your dad to one of these places, or suggest that he go to one of Rockford’s best dive bars to celebrate Father’s Day.
4213 W State St, Rockford
Latham West is a personal fave; the food is amazing, the drinks are strong and cheap; and the people watching never disappoints.
4303 W State St
Had enough of Latham West? Just head next door to Rock-a-Bago Hall & Mama C’s. The perfect dive that’s never too busy so service is always outstanding, the drinks are stiff and a great place for live music.
The Old Still
2610 Kilburn Ave
Did I mention that this list was not in order, if it was, then the Old Still would be #1 as far as being the best dive bar in Rockford. It looks shady on the outside, but the people on the inside truly make the place awesome. It’s a true Rockford original.
315 S Main St, Rockford
“It’s a great place to rest your paws.” Or in this case, it’s a great place to chill with your paw- see what I did there? Throw back some beers and do some gaming at J Bears with dad this Father’s Day.
The Oasis Micro-Pub
901 E State St Rockford, IL
Would your dad like to travel back in time to the late 70s or early 80s & have a craft beer from the future? If so, then this is the place for him. The Oasis has the most unique selection of craft beer in town and at great prices. Dad will wonder why you don’t take him there more often.
2921 City View Dr, Rockford
Does your dad like to play pool? Scanlan’s has pool, slots, music and it’s rarely busy so it’ll be all about you and pops; take advantage of the quiet time to bond over some ice cold beer and burgers.
5624 N 2nd St, Loves Park
Anyone who’s ever been to the Town Hall Bar will tell you that they have great food, an even better staff and it’s family friendly; they have a dining room separate from the bar, this way anyone can join.
Vic and Jim’s
5525 N 2nd St, Loves Park
Ice cold beer, hot, Butch’s pizza and shuffleboard awaits you and dad at Vic and Jim’s. Regulars love the people, the staff and the prices.
