Summer is finally here. At least Mother Nature says that with the hot weather we are experiencing. If you are looking to beat the heat, here are 5 tips that will not only make you feel better, but could save your life.

1. Drink More Water

"Whenever your body heats up from physical activity or the hot weather outside, your internal air conditioner turns on and you begin to sweat. And remember, now that your air conditioner is using its coolant (your sweat), it is important to refill the tank — by drinking lots of H2O."

2. Enhance Your Fan

If you take your fan and face it out the window instead of blowing on you, your room will be cooler and you can sleep better at night. Ceiling fans also need to be running counter clockwise.

3. Check Your WIndows

This was a trick I use and it works! Close the windows and hang sheets or insulated drapes. There is also the hanging towel trick. Hang a towel that is damp in front of the window and then open another window to let air in.

4. Cool Your Car Down Quickly

This trick can be a life saver. Open your window and then take the opposite door and open and close it a few times. Your car will be cool in no time.

5. Know Your Body's Cooling Areas

If you can't get into the AC and the heat is too much, your neck and wrists are your cooling points. Take ice, wrap it in a towel and place it on yourself. You will cool down quickly.
