With the new year quickly approaching, it's time to start thinking of those resolutions. Here are five resolutions that I believe will lead to a better new year.

Don't consider this five different New Year's resolutions, instead think of it as five steps for one ultimate goal; a great 2017.

Reading Too Much Into Text Messages

If you do this, you're not alone. I struggle with it daily. Even when reading a simple "OK" my brain says the sender is annoyed, mad, or not enthused.

    Living an Unhealthy Lifestyle

Many people toss up the whole "lose weight" New Year's resolution so why just try to be healthier in general. A better diet, exercising (mentally and physically), and being happier, are all great steps towards better health. Getting enough sleep is very important, too.

    No "Me" Time

Most of us has busy lives. It seems like the older you get, the less time you have for YOU. Force yourself to find time to for yourself, without social media, without distraction, and without negativity. Take 15-20 minutes every day to just do you.

    Wasting Money

Set a budget and stick to it. Sounds easier said than done - but it is important. If you need help planning a budget or looking for tips to stick to it, click here.

    Being Negative On Social Media

Yeah, that is huge obstacle, but doable! Before you run to Facebook to vent about work, the love life, or something in the news, wait 30 minutes. You should be cooled down at that point. If you're still worked up over something, find a different activity to distract you from oversharing on Facebook.

If you read someone's negative rant and feel inclined to comment, ignore it. Close the window, close the app, do something else.
