Who says you have to be in a tropical rain forest to take in the beauty of a waterfall?

I once decided I was brave enough to go canoeing at Starved Rock in Utica, Il.

That was hilarious. I have zero upper body strength so paddling this steel beast for 12 miles was exhausting.

It was a hot summer day which made the occasional waterfall welcomed with open arms. I couldn't wait to stand under all of it's glory to cool off.

If you have never seen a waterfall before, you don't have to travel to the ends of the Earth to find one. There are plenty of beautiful ones right in our own backyard.

The tranquility of this waterfall at Starved Rock in Utica can't be beat.

The colors radiate from this waterfall at Starved Rock in Utica.

Don't you just want to dive in? This is Burden Falls in Pope.

What I would do to be this dog in Burr Ridge's Waterfall Glen!

Waterfalls, such as this one at Ferne Clyffe State Park in Goreville is breathtaking, even in the winter.

Beautiful! Mother nature at her best if you ask me.
