Talk about a rare sight, an albino deer. What makes it even more rare is that an 11-year-old hunter bagged the 12-point buck with a crossbow.

Gavin Dingman of Oceola Township in Michigan went hunting with his dad, Mick Dingman when they spotted the rare deer.

The father told WZZM-TV

"He kind of feels like a rock star right now. Everyone is calling, all of the hunting shows and hunting magazines

"The whole neighborhood is familiar with it (The albino deer). Quite a few of the guys in the neighborhood were trying to get it

When he saw the albino deer, Gavin said he was "very nervous" as he took aim with his crossbow.

Gavin's father told the TV station that it wasn't Gavin's first buck. He shot a six-pointer last year with a crossbow.

Gavin is in sixth grade. Gavin told .WZZM-TV that his classmates said: "They are like, wow, that is so cool"

A large number of people have flooded the TV station's Facebook with criticism. Some posters very angry that the boy killed this rare deer. Others have defended the youngster.

A December 2013 report published by USA Today said that albino deer are born once in about 20,000 births. Some biologists claim only one in 100,000 deer is born albino.
